Dot is the founder of the Silver Starlite Orchestra and has been its music Director from its beginning.
An original member playing tenor sax and clarinet, Kevin also arranges for the band.
Henry Heyzer graduated from West Chester University PA with a BS in music education then joined the US Navy Concert Band in Washington DC as Bass trombonist for 6 years. After freelancing in DC for 3 years, he became a member of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra as their principal trombonist. Now living in New Jersey, Henry is very active with many NJ based bands and maintains a busy teaching schedule.
Jeff Behr has been actively involved in Jazz, Concert and Dance band performance since high school and college. He studied with Al Godlis and Jack Gale. Currently he is with 8 bands in the NY/NJ area, performing as well as managing their organizations. His full-time "gig" is manufacturer and distributor of his own line of Aarisse natural health care supplements, while music performance continues as his main passion and pleasure evenings and weekends.
Member of SSO since 2010. Pete appears in many area bands performing a variety of different musical genres.
A music teacher in public and private schools and freelance trumpet player throughout the greater Metro area for many years.
A member of the band since 2003, Bob plays with various big and small jazz groups in the NY/NJ/PA Metropolitan areas. Bob has played with Ted Curson, Roni Ben-Hur, Ali Ryerson, and has performed at Birdland Jazz Club in NYC, Shanghai Jazz in Madison, NJ, and Trumpets Jazz Club in Montclair, NJ.
Bill Ash is a highly respected brass musician, band leader, composer/arranger, teacher, music journalist with 45 years of impressive credits ranging from big band, musical theater, classical performances to smaller jazz groups, pop, rock, polka and Klezmer. He's performed at many NY area venues including Lincoln Center, NJPAC, Giants Stadium, Izod Arena, Iridium, Fat Tuesday’s as well as in Las Vegas and throughout the East coast. His classical appearances include NJ Pops, North Jersey Symphony Orchestras, Garden State, Rockland County Concert Bands. Currently he's with the 18-time Grammy winner Jimmy Sturr, the Temptations, the Happenings, Marlene VerPlanck, and Bobby Rydell. In 2003, he was selected as one of NJ’s top jazz musicians by the Newark Star Ledger
Jimmy had been a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society for over 20 years, both performing at shows and competing in contests at the highest level in choruses and quartets throughout the tri-state area. He also was a member of a 7-man acapella doo-wop group, singing both lead and backup. He has performed in venues such as the Tropicana in Atlantic City and the Izod Center at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, opening for acts such as Johnny Maestro and The Brooklyn Bridge, The Duprees, and many other classic rock and roll legends appearing throughout New York and New Jersey.
Jimmy’s dream of singing solo with a big band came true in 2004 when he joined the Silver Starlite Orchestra as its male vocalist. In that capacity, he has gone back to his early radio influences but now, instead of just listening to the radio, he provides his own vocals, along with his own lyrical interpretations, to that very same music. Both he and the band have developed a unique sound and will continue to strive to be the best big band around.
Ray Johnston, a graduate of the Berklee College of Music, went on to have an illustrious career as a woodwinds performer and educator. He held the position on Teacher of Instrumental Music in the East Orange, NJ public school system for many years, while simultaneously performing and teaching privately. Ray's performing credits include concerts with: The Temptations, The O'Jays, Bobby Rydell, Fabian, Frankie Avalon, Irene, Reid, Don Braden, John Blake, Ted Curson, Joe Ford, and more recently, Alicia Keys. As a member of the "Spirit of Life" ensemble, Ray performed at Sweet Basil Jazz Club in NYC and Trumpets Jazz Club in Montclair, NJ. He was also a member of The 63rd Band, Army National Guard Tours with whom he toured the US and La Paz, Bolivia. Currently, Ray performs at the Cotton Club in New York City, The Silver Starlite Orchestra, and tours internationally with The Count Basie Orchestra. In addition, Ray performs in many musicals in the NY area, including: The Sound of Music, Dream Girls, West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, and Suessical The Musical. Ray is a member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 802, New York City.
Walt has been the drummer for the Silver Starlite Orchestra since March of 2008. Walt retired from the Army National Guard having served honorably for 25 years. The last 15 of those years were spent as a drummer with the 63rd Army Band based at the New Jersey Military Academy at Seagirt, New Jersey. In addition to playing the big band style, Walt has also played in wedding bands, dixieland bands, and small jazz groups. Presently Walt keeps busy playing with big bands and also gigging locally with small jazz groups.
Larry DeLucca started playing Clarinet and Alto Sax in school and also doubled on Baritone Sax. He studied music at Paterson State College. After college, he played with the 63rd Army (stage) Band. He's performed extensively with Blues/Jazz Bands, Rock/Wedding Bands, Saxophone Quartets, Community Bands, and Big Bands.
Corinn Springer hails from Jersey City, NJ where she works as a professional singer, teaches voice and piano and helps run International Music Academy of Opera. Corinn has a Bachelor in Music Education from The College of New Jersey and a Master’s in Music Performance from Brooklyn College Conservatory. For over the past decade she has been seen performing across Europe, North America, and parts of Asia singing in various concerts and operas. Some of Corinn’s noteworthy accomplishments include being a soloist at David Geffen Hall, Lincoln Center, Weil Hall, Carnegie Hall, receiving first place with the Accordion Teachers Association of New Jersey classical music competition and acting and singing in the independent feature film Cardio with Ian Todary Productions in NYC, as well as participating in several prestigious training programs. Corinn’s most notable recent accomplishment was singing original pop songs and acting as the leading lady in the film Balls; a Parallaxe Films Production (London, UK; Zurich, SUI). Corinn is looking forward to performing in Teatro comunale Sollima in Sicily, Italy this summer as part of their opera festival, performing again with IMAO at Carnegie Hall in fall 2019, as well as continuing to perform with the Silver Starlight Orchestra.
Warren has been involved with music since elementary school and plays piano and trombone. He studied for more than a decade with David Gibson, NYC jazz trombonist and recording artist, and is currently working with NYC jazz pianist, Yoonmi Choi. Originally a rock/fusion keyboard player, Warren discovered the beauty of jazz, big band, and the Great American Songbook after college and has been enjoying this amazing genre ever since. He is delighted to be part of the SSO!
